Dan Hall showed that he was still on top of his game with a strong win in Race 2 of the Browns Xstream Flatwater Urban Wilderness XPD. Kris Clausen was close behind, showing his recovery from injury is almost complete, with Matt Dalziel only a short way back in 3rd place.

The Long Time Trial format was popular with 37 paddlers across a range of boat and age classes entering to paddle in almost ideal conditions.

But, showing that even in good weather, Brown’s is never to be under-estimated. The rivulet claimed another victim when Dion Frampton clipped his paddle on an over-hanging branch and, braving the the e-coli, decided a swim to cool down was in order.

Tim Watson gets the Good Samaritan Award for stopping briefly to see if Dion needed a hand, losing valuable time in the race. A bottle of wine is on the presentations list for Tim, and some floaties for Dion.

And Dave Gray gets an honourable mention – just for a change he paddled an old, heavy racing C2 by himself, C1 style!!. A fantastic effort, and he wasn’t last over the line!

Next race is 18 November. If the weather is good, we’ll do a barbecue.
