Dan Hall has proved himself to be possibly the fastest Australian wildwater paddler ever by setting a course record in winning the Australian Wildwater Championships on Friday. His time of 13:04 was set on less than full flow, making his result even more impressive. Dan is showing continuous improvement, with this time 16 seconds faster than his tasmanian Championship time set in December. The Tasmanian Institute of Sport paddler completed an impressive double by winning the Australian Rapid Sprint Championships by an astounding 8 seconds on Saturday.

Second place in the Australian Wildwater Championships went to Ben Maynard (TIS) in a personal best time of 13:35, followed by Mathew French (TIS) 13:37. Ben and Mathew maintained their placings in the Australian Rapid Sprint Championships.

Carol Hurst has had the ladies events to herself, convincingly winning both the wildwater and rapid sprint titles.

A very pleasing feature of the events has been the large number of talented junior paddlers competing for the first time on the river. Many have benefited from the attention and advice freely offered by the older paddlers.
