The Slalom Stingers program is the canoe slalom program for younger paddlers to learn paddling skills and train for canoe slalom.

This program caters for a range of abilities, from the beginner- to the proficient teen slalom paddler.

Ages 10-18

Training is held at the Browns River at the end of Kingston Beach on Thursday Nights and at the Broken Bridge, near New Norfolk on Sundays . Training weekends will also be held at Brady’s Lake, and Forth River.

Derwent Canoe Club Slalom Stingers Program 2023

When/Where: Term 4 Thursdays 4:30pm – 5:30pm at Browns River, Kingston & Sundays 1:30pm – 3pm at Broken Bridge/Hayes Rapids Derwent River.

There is an additional slalom camp on November 11-12 weekend that is part of the program – save the date!

Plus opportunities for summer holiday paddling post term.

To sign up:

First join your child up to the Derwent Canoe Club (via the Paddle Australia website- link here https://paddleaustralia.justgo.com/Workbench.mvc/Show/72

Second go to the CALENDAR and use the Derwent Canoe Club filter to find the Stingers 2023/2024 event.

Finally purchase the appropriate tickets for program fee and/or gear hire.

Term fees: $240 plus $110 for boat and paddle hire per term. Contact Matt Lindus for equipment hire on 0417 241 144.

Please ensure you sign up your child under their name (family booking then select relevant child).

All paddlers must have a PFD and helmet when paddling in white water and surf.

A spraydeck is optional for novice paddlers.
