Brown’s Rivulet Race Series 2004/2005

Race 6 Results are out now!!

Race #6 was held on Tuesday 22nd February 2005 and was a success, with 26 paddlers competing. There were some impressive times given the low water level!

The Time Trial event was taken out, overall, by Matt Dalziel in 6:49 from The DRR boats of Dave Gray in 7:24 and Andrew Maynard in 7:30.

The Open Women’s was won by Carol Hurst in a fast 8:29 in her DRR boat from the multi-sport boat of Jen Brown in 9:17 and Judy Clarke’s DRR boat in 9:35.

In the DRR category, Men’s, Dave Gray in 7:24 was closely followed by Andrew Maynard in 7:30 and Justin Boocock in 8:35. In the Women’s, Carol Hurst in 8:29 took out the event from Kate Mollison in 9:34 and Judy Clarke in 9:35.

Bruce Terry took out the Sea Kayak event in 10:02, from Rick in 10:04 and Krystyna in 12:30 (plastic!).

In the Short Plastic boat class, Michael Brennan posted a 12:54.

The hotly contested Junior DRR event was taken out by Alistair Stanny (TIS Talent Search) in a new Junior record of 9:33.43, to narrowly beat the previous record holder, Kate Mollison in 9:34.09 (following her good form as the Australian Junior Women’s Slalom Champion) from Oliver Lovell (TIS Talent Search) in 10:09, paddling a Wavehopper! Mike Smith (TIS Talent Search), paddled a Wizard to record a time of 9:42, narrowly beating Alistair’s time of 9:45 in the Wizard from race 5.

As has become a pattern, the Junior Development squad has continued to impress. Paddlers are now looking at times faster than 9:30 in the Time Trial event, and are almost breaking 10 mins in Wavehoppers

These are 1.4 km flatwater races. First race being an up-river time trial from the walkbridge near the beach, to the walkbridge at the golf course, followed by a handicap race back down river. All craft welcome. Entries taken from 6:00pm, racing starts 6:30pm. Next event, Tuesday March 8th.
